Welcome to offlyn.love ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting the personal data you share with us and being transparent about how we use it.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the offlyn.love mobile application ("the App"), why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDPA") and other applicable laws.

By using the App, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Who We Are

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information You Provide

Account information: Name, email address, date of birth, and phone number provided during registration.
Profile information: Photos, bio, gender, age, and dating/connection preferences.
Contacts (optional): If you grant permission, we access your phone contacts to identify mutual friends between you and other users. We currently do not store your contact list — it is used only in the moment to calculate connections. If this changes, we will update this policy and notify you.
Messages: The content of conversations you have with other users through the App.
Feedback and support: Information you submit when contacting us for support or reporting issues.

3.2 Information We Collect Automatically

Device information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, and app version.
Push notification tokens: Used to deliver notifications to your device.
Usage data: Interactions within the App, such as profile views, feed engagement, and matching activity. This data is used in aggregate to improve the product.
Log data: IP address, timestamps, and error logs collected for security and debugging purposes.

3.3 Information We Derive

Feed and match data: We compute a discovery feed for you based on your preferences, your network, and mutual friend relationships. The identity of mutual friends is stored server-side but is not shown to you or other users until after a mutual match is established. This is a deliberate privacy protection.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal data only for the following purposes:

To provide the App's core features: Creating your profile, generating your personalised discovery feed, enabling matching, and facilitating conversations.
To power the mutual friend algorithm: We use connection data to identify whether you and another user share a mutual friend. This mutual friend is kept confidential until both parties match.
To send you notifications: Match alerts, new messages, and important account-related updates.
To improve the App: Aggregated, de-identified usage data helps us understand how the product is used and where it can be improved.
To ensure security and prevent abuse: Detecting fraud, spam, and violations of our Terms of Service.
To respond to your requests: Customer support, reporting, and feedback.
To comply with legal obligations: Including requirements under Indian law.

We currently do not use your data for targeted advertising and do not sell your personal data to third parties. If this changes, we will update this policy and notify you before doing so.

We share your data only in the following limited circumstances.

5.1 With Other Users

Your profile (name, photos, bio, preferences) is visible to other users on the App as part of normal discovery. Your mutual friend is not revealed to another user until after you have both matched.

5.2 With Service Providers

We work with third-party vendors who process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality and data processing obligations:

Supabase Inc. (database and backend infrastructure) — stores your profile, messages, and app data securely. Supabase also provides anonymised usage metrics.
Expo (Expo Inc.) and Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google LLC) — used to deliver push notifications to your device.
Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) — collects crash reports and diagnostic data to help us identify and fix app stability issues. This data is anonymised and does not include message content or profile information.
Expo (Expo Inc.) — provides anonymised app usage and performance telemetry.

5.3 For Legal Reasons

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or a competent government authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of offlyn.love, our users, or the public.

5.4 Business Transfers

If offlyn.love is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your personal data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the App's services.

Account and profile data is retained for the duration of your account and deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
Conversation messages are retained for the duration of the conversation. Deleting your account will remove your messages.
Feed cache and match data is retained for operational purposes and purged on a rolling basis or upon account deletion.
Log and security data may be retained for up to 12 months for fraud prevention and legal compliance purposes.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encrypted data transmission (TLS/HTTPS), row-level security policies on our database to ensure users can only access data they are authorised to see, access controls limiting who can reach production data, and regular security reviews.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. In the event of a data breach that is likely to harm you, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by law.

8. Children's Privacy

offlyn.love is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 18. If we learn that a minor has created an account, we will promptly delete their data and close their account. If you believe a minor is using the App, please contact us at david@offlyn.love.

9. Your Rights Under the DPDPA, 2023

As a Data Principal under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the following rights:

Right to access: You can request a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it is being processed.
Right to correction and erasure: You can request that we correct inaccurate data or erase your personal data where it is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
Right to withdraw consent: You may withdraw your consent for us to process your data at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. Note that withdrawal may limit or prevent your use of the App.
Right to grievance redressal: You have the right to have your grievances addressed in a timely manner (see Section 11).
Right to nominate: You may nominate another individual to exercise your rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity.

10. Third-Party Links and Services

The App may contain links to third-party websites or services. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you use.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by email. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
